Capiz State University conducted a coaching and mentoring activity on the Program to Institutionalize Meritocracy and Excellence in Human Resource Management (PRIME-HRM) . The two-day program was held at CAPSU Roxas City Main Campus Conference and Board Room, February 2-3.

PRIME-HRM is a government mechanism that empower private companies and government agencies by developing the human resource management competencies, systems, and practices toward human resource excellence.

Dr. Wennie F. Legario, Vice President for Administration and Finance, warmly welcomed the attendees and resource persons from the Civil Service Commission (CSC) Region 6 field office. Dr. Editha C. Alfon, SUC President III, then delivered a message where she certainly believed that “the 2-day coaching ang mentoring will bear future results and laid a firm groundwork for future development of our Human Resource Management in our University.”

The invited resource speakers were Dir. Rufino G. Leonoras, CSC Director II; Dr. Vizur-ty C. Gaitano, CSC Director II; and Ms. Donnalyn P. Sortigosa, CSC Senior HR Specialist. Their discussions focused on the processes and necessary evidences and requirements needed to be accomplished in the four areas of HR systems. Self-assessment was done to determine the unfulfilled indicators and the current maturity level of the 4 HR systems.

Once the evidences and requirements are complete and ready for perusal, CSC evaluators will then assess its maturity level considering CAPSU’s competencies, systems, and practices in 4 aspects of HR systems/management: 1. Recruitment, Selection, and Placement; 2. Learning and Development; 3. Performance Management; and 4. Rewards and Recognition.

This PRIME-HRM involves greater engagement not just of the Human Resource Management Officer (HRMO) but also of the key officials and the rank-and-file employees.

Present during the program were the university key officials, CAPSU’s PRIME-HRM Technical Working Group (TWG) and human resource practitioners from different campuses and satellite colleges of this University.

Dr. Susan O. Dangan, Vice President for Academic Affairs, expressed her gratitude for the guidance, coaching, and mentoring about PRIME-HRM as she closed the program.
