The Capiz State University (CAPSU) led by Dr. Editha C. Alfon, SUC President III, together with the Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office (DRRMO) of this University paid a courtesy visit to Hon. Fredenil H. Castro, Capiz Governor at the Capiz Provincial Capitol on April 11, 2024.
The said visit aimed to personally present the Gawad KALASAG (KAlamidad at Sakuna LAbanan, Sariling Galing ang Kaligtasan) national awards reaped by this institutions conferred by the National Disaster Risk Reduction Management Council (NDRRMC).
The CAPSU-DRRMO has been a consistent regional champion and national qualifier for four consecutive years, securing the following national placements over the years: 2018 – 3rd place; 2019 – 1st place; 2020 – 1st place; 2021 and 2022 – No HEI participation due to pandemic; and 2023 – 1st place and Hall of Fame Awardee.
Governor Castro expressed his sincere congratulations for the massive accomplishment brought not only to the CAPSU community but also to the province of Capiz. He also commended Dr. Alfon to continue doing a great job for the benefit of every Capisnon.
Present also during the visit were Dr. Wennie F. Legario, Vice President for Administration and Finance; Dr. Arnel Van V. Aleligay, CAPSU-DRRMO Director; and Atty. Sheila A. Artillero, Local Disaster Risk Reduction Management Officer V of the Provincial DRRM Unit.
The CAPSU-DRRMO continues to engage and commit to resilience-building and humanitarian assistance programs, and to partnering with the local government units, NGOs and private organizations, to ensure harmonized initiatives in disaster risk management and humanitarian assistance.
