To equip with a comprehensive understanding of the International Organization for Standardization 9001:2015 standards, the Office of the Quality Management System (QMS) conducted a two-day awareness course to the newly hired teaching and non-teaching personnel and newly appointed internal quality auditors.
The first day was attended and participated by the personnel from the Central Administration, Roxas City Main Campus, and Dayao Satellite College, which took place at the Training Center, CAPSU Dayao Satellite College on June 19.
The second day was composed of personnel from Burias and Pontevedra Campus, Dumarao, Mambusao, Pilar, Sigma, and Tapaz Satellite Colleges, held at the Conference Room, CAPSU Roxas City Main Campus, earlier of today, June 20.
Dr. Matilde A. Perez, QMS Director, firstly congratulated the participants “for being employed in an ISO certified institution” before expressing her gratitude to them for attending the said activity.
“Today, I hope that this orientation will be fruitful. That at the end of the day, you will understand how you can be benefited and at the same what is expected of you when you are ISO certified. So I would like to welcome all of you here. Be engage in our orientation. Most of all, you must enjoy also,” Dr. Perez said, hopeful for a productive discussion.
Likewise, CAPSU President Dr. Editha C. Alfon delivered a message urging the attendees to pay attention and emphasized the significance of the orientation.
“In this competitive world, we are bind with accreditation to international standards. This is just the way forward, especially for all of us who are considered as service providers,” Dr. Alfon said underscoring the pivotal role of each and every one in service who are employed in the University.
“Why do we have to go ourselves for international accreditation? … because we do not want to lag behind. We want to be at par with other standards especially on internationalization,” she added highlighting the main objectives of the activity.
Proceeding to the lecture proper, Dr. Perez explicitly presented the overview and significance of the activity while Dr. Doreen D. Ata-al, University Lead Auditor, discussed the difference between internal and external audit, internal audit program, roles and responsibilities of audit participants, difference between ISO audit and AACCUP accreditation, objectives, principles, and processes of the internal audit.
The said course is crucial and in preparation for the upcoming ISO re-certification scheduled for November 2024.
Dr. Ata-al thanked everyone for their cooperation and participation as she conveyed her closing remarks.
Dr. Christa Hope Corros, a faculty member of CAPSU Dayao Satellite College served as the emcee in the said two-day event.
