The key officials from Capiz State University (CAPSU) and Hiroshima University, Japan paid a courtesy visit to the offices of the City of Roxas Mayor and the Capiz Provincial Governor on September 19, 2024.

The Hiroshima University delegation is composed of Dr. Lawrence M. Liao and Dr. Takeshi Tomiyama, Researchers and Associate Professors of the Graduate School of Integrated Sciences for Life of the said university.

Mayor Ronnie T. Dadivas, represented by Roxas City Vice Mayor Teresa H. Almalbis extended a warm welcome to the delegates at the City Hall. She was glad to meet the delegation and reaffirmed the city’s local government units (LGUs) commitment to supporting collaborative projects between the universities that will benefit the residents of Roxas City. Alongside with the Vice Mayor was Mrs. Belinda M. Garrido, Roxas City LGU Coastal Resource Management Specialist.

At the Provincial Capitol, Governor Fredenil H. Castro, represented by First District Board Member Jonathan B. Besa led the welcoming of the delegation. Joining him were Board Member Blesilda P. Almalbis and Hon. Ricky Martin, Deputy Provincial Administrator for the First District of the Province of Capiz. Hon. Besa expressed his optimism about the partnerships of both universities and hopes that the projects to be collaborated will turn out as a livelihood for the community in the Province of Capiz.

The delegation was accompanied by Dr. Mary Ann B. Martelino, Vice President for External Affairs and Linkages. Joining Dr. Martelino were Dr. Marien A. Laureto, Director for International and National Affairs; Dr. Stephanie S. Pimentel, Director of the University’s Fisheries and Food Research Development Center (FFRDC); Dr. Annalie G. Campos, CAPSU Sigma Satellite College Director; and Dr. John King N. Layos, faculty member of the College of Agriculture and Forestry (CAF) at CAPSU Burias Campus.
