The INTACT Base and Cheng Shiu University (CSU) of Taiwan conducted an INTENSE Program Orientation with the students and alumni of Capiz State University (CAPSU) on October 25, 2024 at the Dadivas Auditorium of Roxas City Main Campus. The hybrid session was attended by graduating students from the Bachelor of Science in Computer Science, Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering, Bachelor of Science in Architecture, Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering and Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering programs from the campuses and satellite colleges of the university. This orientation program was a realization of the Memorandum of Understanding signed by the three institutions on August 8, 2024.

Dr. Mary Ann B. Martelino, Vice President of External Affairs and Linkages led the welcoming of the guests from Taiwan on behalf of Dr. Efren L. Linan, CAPSU SUC President III. Other university key officials in attendance were Dr. Wennie F. Legario, Vice President for Administration and Finance; Dr. Susan O. Dangan, Vice President for Academic Affairs; Dr. Marien A. Laureto, University Director for International and National Affairs; Deans and Program Chairs from the campuses and satellite colleges.

In her message, Dr. Martelino encouraged the students and alumni to see this meeting as more than just an orientation. “This is your gateway to a future where the possibilities are limitless. Through this program, you have the chance to study in Taiwan, connect with industries that are shaping the future, and grow not only as professionals but as global citizens.”, Dr. Martelino said.

The Taiwanese delegation was composed of Dr. Chen Shan-Mei, Director of the Office of International Affairs at CSU and at the same time the Deputy Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of INTACT Base Taiwan-Philippines; and Ms. Krystl Lim, Officer in the Office of the International Affairs at CSU and as well as the Program Director of INTACT Base Taiwan-Philippines.

Dr. Gong Rui-Zhang, President of CSU, extended his appreciation to the attendees through a video message. “We believe that the INTENSE Program is a wonderful opportunity for students and alumni to venture outside their comfort zones and experience an exciting future.”, Dr. Gong said.

Ms. Kristl Lim of INTACT Base presented the information about the CSU, the role of INTACT Base in the Philippines and the features of the INTENSE Program. She set a lively and participative tone in the meeting as she asked questions and handed-out freebies to the students. Ms. Lim also answered questions from the attendees about the program.

Dr. Marien Laureto wrapped up the event with an appreciation to the Taiwanese delegation for coming to CAPSU to conduct this orientation. She encouraged the students and alumni to take this opportunity of learning and working in Taiwan for the betterment of their career and future.

INTENSE Program, or the Industrial Talents Education Special Program, aims to cultivate international talents through customized courses jointly developed by enterprises and universities in Taiwan. It provides qualified applicants scholarships and post-graduation employment in Taiwan. It is supported by the Taiwan’s Ministry of Education and the National Development Council.
