The Capiz State University (CAPSU) Disaster and Risk Reduction Management (DRRM) office turned over communication equipment to the campuses and satellite colleges on March 19, 2025 at the Central Administration board room.

CAPSU President Dr. Efren L. Linan led the turnover ceremony of various facilities and equipment to the DRRM Coordinators of the campuses and satellite colleges of this University. Each received a VHF base radio unit, regulated power supply unit, a set of VHF omni-directional antenna and 200 meters of antenna cable. It was facilitated by Dr. Arnel Van V. Aleligay, University Director of the DRRM office.
A meeting with the University President followed after the awarding of equipment to discuss ways on how to further strengthen the DRRM programs and activities at the campuses and satellite colleges.
The supply of the equipment aims to enhance the capability of the DRRM office at campuses and satellite colleges in terms of school safety and security, disaster or calamity and emergency response, and proper coordination during activities. The equipment can also be utilized in contacting with partner agencies such as the PNP, BFP and the LDRRMO when the need arises.
The acquisition of the said equipment was sourced from the cash price received during the 2023 Gawad KALASAG National Awards, wherein CAPSU was awarded as Best Higher Education Institution and as a Hall of Fame awardee. This recognition is given by the National Disaster Risk Reduction Management Council (NDRRMC) as a primary recognition scheme for stakeholders who promote and implement disaster risk reduction management, climate change adaptation, and humanitarian assistance programs that protects high-risk communities against extreme hazards and disasters.
