In its effort to strengthen its commitment to internationalization, Capiz State University (CAPSU) forged two new international partnerships through signing a Memorandum of Understanding with Cheng Shiu University (CSU) and International Talent Circulation Based (INTACT Base), Taiwan. The MOU signing ceremony was held on August 8 at the Central Administration Boardroom, CAPSU Roxas City Main Campus.
The Taiwanese delegation was composed of Dr. Chen Shan-Mei, Director of the Office of International Affairs at CSU and at the same time the Deputy Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of INTACT Base Taiwan-Philippines; Ms. Krystl Lim, Officer in the Office of the International Affairs at CSU and as well as the Program Director of INTACT Base Taiwan-Philippines; Ms. Tseng Shih-Ching, Mandarin Teacher Yushan Mandarin and of the International Foundation Program; and Ms. Lin Sih-Yu, Staff in the Office of the International Affairs at CSU.
Dr. Mary Ann B. Martelino, Vice President for External Affairs and Linkages warmly welcomed the delegation. In her address, she underscored the significance of the partnership between CAPSU and various institutions in Taiwan.
“The partnership between Capiz State University and esteemed organizations and universities in Taiwan are more than just alliances. By embracing international work integrated learning opportunities, we will not only enhance our education landscape but also cultivate global column capable of addressing the world’s most recent issues. Let us seize this moment to collaborate, innovate, and lead together,” Dr. Martelino stated.
Following her remarks, Mr. Christian George F. Acevedo, Director of Publication and Instructional Materials (PIM) provided a comprehensive overview of CAPSU’s programs, services, and facilities highlighting the University’s capabilities.
Proceeding to the orientation proper, Ms. Krystl Lim presented a detailed explanation of the INTACT Base and the International Industrial Talents Education Special (INTENSE). She catered and addressed inquiries from CAPSU’s dignitaries and representatives.
The MOU signing was done between Dr. Editha C. Alfon representing the University, and Dr. Shan-Mei representing CSU and INTACT Base. This was witnessed by CAPSU’s four vice presidents: Dr. Wennie F. Legario, Vice President for Administration and Finance; Dr. Susan O. Dangan, Vice President for Academic Affairs; Dr. Efren L. Linan, Vice President for Research, Development and Extension; and Dr. Martelino.
Dr. Alfon then delivered her acceptance speech where she expressed her deep gratitude to the Taiwanese partners for their trust and commitment. She spoke of optimism about the potential for mutual growth and success through this collaboration.
“Today, we take a step forward together, bridging geographical distances to create new opportunities for our students, faculty, and communities. These partnerships will undoubtedly enrich our academic programs, enhance our research capabilities, and most importantly, prepare our students to thrive in an increasingly interconnected world,” Dr. Alfon said.
“Let us continue to work hand in hand, embracing the spirit of cooperation and excellence that has brought us to this moment. May this be the beginning of a long and fruitful partnership that will benefit not only our institutions but also the wider global community,” Dr. Alfon added in conclusion to her acceptance speech.
Dr. Dangan delivered the closing remarks, formally ending the program.
