In pursuit to provide excellent and quality education to the Capisnons, Capiz State University, Mapúa Malayan Digital College, and Capiz Provincial Government will join forces to elevate “quality tertiary education” in Capiz a step further.
The Mapúa Malayan Digital College, a product of the partnership a Yuchengco-Ayala education partnership, conducted a short orientation with the key officials of Capiz State University and the Provincial Government of Capiz towards a possible partnership that will see the establishment of the Capiz IT and Business College at Capiz State University. The said confab was held at Roxas City Main Campus Conference Room on January 19.
Dr. Susan O. Dangan, Vice-President for Academic Affairs warmly welcomed the attendees and guests. Dr. Editha C. Alfon, SUC President III, then delivered her message, where she committed the University’s whole-hearted support in this initiative, all for the benefit of the Capisnon students. Hon. Thea Faith Reyes, Capiz First District Board Member, speaking on behalf of Gov. Fredenil Castro, also assured everyone present that the Provincial Government is working hard to support the provision of access to quality education for every Capiznon.
The partnership between the Capiz Provincial Government, CAPSU, and MMDC is expected to significantly equip Capisnons with 21st century industry skills. The Provincial Government, BM Reyes mentioned, has already earmarked funding for scholarship grants for deserving Capisnons who intend to take up Business and IT courses in MMDC. Mr. Derrick Latreille, Chief Learning Officer of MMDC, also gave a short discussion about the teaching and learning methodologies implemented in MMDC.
Also present during the orientation, from MMDC, were Engr. Dennis Tablante, Executive Director; Mr. Doc Jonathan Dayao, Vice-President for Administration and Information Technology; Ms. Jenny Chua, Vice-President for Marketing, Partnerships, and Admissions; and Mr. Joshua Villanueva, Corporate Communication and Partnerships Manager. From CAPSU, the attendees included Dr. Mary Ann B. Martelino, Vice-President for External Affairs and Linkages; Dr. Wennie F. Legario, Vice-President for Administration and Finance; Engr. Efren L. Linan, Vice-President for Research, Development and Extension; and Dr. Ma. Dorothee J. Villarruz, Roxas City Campus Administrator.
With this newly found partnership with Mapúa Malayan Digital College and never-ending support from the local government of the province of Capiz, CAPSU becomes much more strongly committed to achieve its vision, mission, and goals and strives harder than before towards academic excellence.
