February 7, 2023 – To further strengthen the University’s campaign on mental health and wellness, Capiz State University (CAPSU) and Positive Youth Development Network (PYDN) signed a Memorandum of Understanding at CAPSU Office of the University President today.
PYDN is a non-profit, youth-led organization that has been actively contributing to social development by coordinating with governmental, non-governmental organizations, foundations, and other stakeholders, implementing initiatives and helping build a strong network of youth across the country that supports innovative platforms and activities to help build a better Philippines for all.
Mr. Alfred O. Dicto, Executive Director of PYDN, personally visited Dr. Editha C. Alfon, SUC President III, and explicitly discussed the project. He emphasized the significance of the project which is to de-escalate a conflict or potentially violent situation through resilient-building guided by trained individuals of the aforementioned organization.
One of the projects of PYDN is the Kaibigan chat line. It is an innovative platform that connects young people to quality and adolescent-friendly health services where trained young people and adolescents are capable of providing mental health and psychosocial support.
Present during the MOU signing were Dr. Susan O. Dangan, Vice-President for Academic Affairs, Dr. Ian Arcega, Dean of College of Management, and Mr. Cesar Ocson, Senior Project Officer of Gerry Roxas Foundation Convention Center.
