RISE Capiz, CAPSU’s research and development program for sustainable ecotourism, was awarded second runner-up in StudyPH Sustainable Education Tourism Award during the Commission on Higher Education’s ICONS Award 2023.

The awarding ceremony was held on October 6, 2023, at the Philippine International Convention Center in Manila.

Receiving the award on behalf of CAPSU was Dr. Leo Andrew B. Biclar, CAPSU Research Director and program leader of RISE Capiz.

RISE Capiz, which stands for Riverine Improvement Towards a Sustainable Ecotourism in Roxas City, aims to enhance the resilience of riverine communities through sustainable ecotourism.

Organized by CHED’s International Affairs Service, the ICONS 2023 awards highlighted sustainable and high-impact initiatives to promote ASEAN awareness, and globalization. The award conferred to CAPSU, the StudyPH Sustainable Education Tourism Award, is given to an outstanding StudyPH Grantee HEI dedicated to fostering sustainable education tourism with focus on its commitment to environmental stewardship, historical/cultural preservation, and lasting economic impact.

This award, hence, recognizes CAPSU’s sustainable strategies and practices to achieve superior educational results, support local economies, and benefit the wider community.
