Capiz State University (CAPSU) has been awarded the Platinum Award, the highest cluster award the Intellectual Property Office of the Philippines (IPOPHL) bestows annually. This prestigious Award marks CAPSU’s continued exemplary performance as an Innovation and Technology Support Office (ITSO), setting a high standard for intellectual property development and fostering innovation within the institution.
The awarding ceremony during the ITSO Presidents’ Summit, held on March 18, 2024, at the Dusit Thani Manila, was attended by the different ITSO networks of IPOPHIL. The Award was received by Dr. Editha C. Alfon, SUC President III, together with Mr. Mark Glenn F. Villamor, Director of the Intellectual Property Management Office (IPMO), Mr. French A. Dampog, Chief of the Knowledge and Technology Transfer Division (KTTD), and Ms. Rosalie Salvilla, Executive Assistant.
The Platinum Award resulted from CAPSU’s unwavering dedication to advancing innovation and technology transfer initiatives. CAPSU has generated the following accomplishments, which include twelve (12) IP Basics Trainings, seven (7) Patent Search Trainings, three (3) Patent Drafting Trainings, four (4) Technology Commercialization and Technology Promotion Trainings, fifty (50) Prior Art Search Reports (PAS), eight ( IP applications for Patents, and Commercialized two (2) technologies with royalty payments received. Furthermore, CAPSU has continuously demonstrated excellence in promoting IP awareness, supporting inventors and researchers, and fostering partnerships to accelerate technology commercialization.
The Award also serves as a proof to CAPSU’s crucial role as a catalyst for innovation-driven growth and commitment to advancing intellectual property rights and technology commercialization in the Philippines. With this prestigious recognition, CAPSU reaffirms its position as an enabler in fostering a culture of innovation, research excellence, and knowledge dissemination for the betterment of society.
