“Ginapabugal ta guid kamo”
The College of Engineering, Architecture, and Technology (CEAT) at Capiz State University (CAPSU) – Roxas City Main Campus organized “Pagpasidungog” program, to honor the board passers of various licensure examinations from the said college and fete the historic placement of CEAT graduate in August 2024 Mechanical Engineer Licensure Examination (MELE).
The awarding ceremony had the theme, “Blueprints of Excellence: Building Tomorrow’s Global Innovations,” which took place at the Dadivas Gymnasium, earlier of today, September 5.
Engr. Jerson D. Amongo, third placer in August 2024 MELE who is recently added to the roster of CAPSUnian topnotchers, together with other board passers of Architecture Licensure Examination (ALE), Certified Plant Mechanic Licensure Examination (CPMLE), Professional Mechanical Engineer Examination, ASEAN Chartered Professional Engineer Examination, Registered Electrical Engineer Licensure Examination (REELE), Registered Master Electrician Licensure Examination (RMELE), CEAT faculty members and staff paraded around the city, prelude to the commencement of the program.
Dr. Joel C. Villaruz, dean of the CEAT, delivered a warm welcome to the attendees and expressed his profound gratitude to the people who served as the “wind beneath the wings” of the passers.
“I would like to congratulate [the] parents for supporting their children, this university for giving this opportunity to recognize the commendable achievement of our graduates in the different licensure examinations, to the faculty members and staff of the college, who served as the wind beneath the wings of our passers.”
CAPSU President Dr. Editha C. Alfon, then conveyed a message highlighting how proud she is to the college for producing not only board passers but also highly competent topnotchers during her tenure as University President.
“Nalipay guid ako because it is always the CEAT. In my two terms as a University President for eight years, [the] CEAT ang gahatag sang kadungganan sa University. Ginapabugal ta guid kamo whenever I talk to our first and second district congressmen, sa aton gobernador, sa aton mayor, [kag] sa akon fellow presidents.”
In her message, she emphasized the significant roles of the parents and teachers in molding the student’s future. She expressed her sincere appreciation to these people “for being the best guru, always leading their lives as examples” and for being their guiding force in the lives of their students.
Before ending her message, Dr. Alfon advised those who did not pass the first try to take their time and do not lose hope “for every failure is an opportunity to learn.” Likewise, to the passers, she reminded them to stay grounded.
The program then advances to giving a certificate of recognition to each passer of the said licensure examinations while Engr. Amongo received his cash incentive from this University worth ₱80,000.00.
After the awarding ceremonies, Engr. Amongo shared a message of gratitude where he thanked his parents, classmates, special someone, and mentors at this University.
Addressing to his father, “Tay, you have worked tirelessly building homes and structures that shelter so many, while also building the foundation of my dreams. Your hands may be calloused from years of hard work, but they are the very hands that have shaped my future.”
Likewise, speaking to his mother, “Nay, your tireless care and wisdom have nurtured my ambitions and provided the strength I needed to persevere.”
Engr. Amongo also thanked the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) for the financial assistance given to him as a scholar, “as a DOST scholar, I am very grateful sa bulig ninyo sa akon pag eskwela labi na guid sa financial. I hope madamo pa kamo nga mabuligan nga aspiring professionals,” he said with a grateful heart.
“If a construction worker’s son can stand here today as one of the top mechanical engineers in the country, then so can you. Let my story inspire you to push you beyond your limits, to embrace the challenges, and to never give up on your dreams,” Engr. Amongo said to believe in yourself and hold on tightly on your dreams despite life’s hardships.
Lastly, before he ends his speech, he underscored that, “success is not just about the accolades or the titles. It’s all about the journey, the lesson learned, and the people who [stood] by you.” Furthermore, for him, true success is “giving back, lifting others as you climb, and using your knowledge and skills to make a positive impact in the world.”
Dr. Wennie F. Legario, Vice President for Administration and Finance concluded the program with a closing message.
“As you step into this world, the world of professionals, let the lessons on hard work, humility, dedication, and professionalism remain with you,” Dr. Legario said offering fatherly advices as they navigate in the real world of professionals. Moreover, in times of experiencing life’s downfall or soaring up to greater heights, “let the lessons you [have] learned from Capiz State University be your guiding light to become better and more productive citizens of this country. | via M.J.
