The Capiz State University – Roxas City Main Campus officially kicked off this year’s intramural meet with the theme, “One CAPSU, One Capiz, Promoting Peace, Inclusivity, and Well-Being through Sports, Culture, and the Arts,” held on October 28, at the Dadivas Gymnasium.

Dr. Wennie F. Legario, Vice President for Administration and Finance, delivered inspiring words of encouragement and good luck.

“Today, we come together to celebrate unity, embrace diversity, and foster a sense of belonging, all while showcasing our talents, strengths, and shared values,” Dr. Legario said, highlighting the objectives of the event.

He added, “Let us keep in mind that true victory is not measured by medals or trophies but by the friendships we form, the sportsmanship we exhibit, and the kindness we extend to one another. Let this be a time where we compete fiercely but fairly, respecting our opponents and acknowledging that every participant is a winner for the courage they show in taking part,” Dr. Legario expressed his hope for a safe, spirited display of talents, performances, and sportsmanship throughout the games.

Mr. John Mark B. Dariagan, CAPSU Roxas City Main Campus Scholarship Coordinator, represented Dr. Eimee D. Potato, Student Affairs and Services (SAS) Chairperson and OIC College Director at CAPSU Sigma Satellite College, in conveying an uplifting message.

“We gather here as one community — One CAPSU, One Capiz — united in promoting peace, inclusivity, and well-being through the power of sports, culture, and the arts. Sports teach us teamwork, resilience, and respect for one another. And then there’s culture and the arts, which bring out the richness of who we are, reminding us of the strength we find in our diversity. What we do here together — whether on the field, on the stage, or in everyday moments — contributes directly to a community that is not only inclusive but also healthier and happier.”

Kyle Omega Dela Torre, a national athlete in arnis from this university, led the athletes’ Oath of Amateurism and the ceremonial lighting of the Flame of Sportsmanship, joined by fellow national athletes. Likewise, Dr. Eduardo I. Diosalan Jr., Sport Services Chairperson at CAPSU Roxas City Main Campus, took the Oath of Amateurism for the officials.

Representing CAPSU President Dr. Efren L. Linan, CAPSU Roxas Focal Person Dr. Cleo Jude Joaquin, officially declared the 2024 intramural meet open.

The participants from the Laboratory High School (LHS), College of Education (CoEd), College of Engineering and Architecture (CEA), College of Management (CM), and the Bachelor of Industrial Technology (BIT) department are to compete for glory while still upholding the spirit of sportsmanship and camaraderie.

The event runs from October 28 until October 30, 2024.
