To prepare the pre-service teachers with the necessary knowledge about cultural diversity and practices, ethical values and proper behavior, Capiz State University (CAPSU), through the efforts and facilitation of the Office of the Vice President for External Affairs and Linkages (OVP-EAL) of this University conducted a Pre-Departure Orientation Seminar to the teacher candidates to be deployed internationally; Indonesia, Thailand, and Vietnam, at CAPSU Central Admin-Boardroom, May 3.
Nineteen CAPSUnian 4th year Education students will go abroad for student exchange program as part of the 9th Batch of South East Asia (SEA) – Teacher Student Exchange Program of the Southeast Asian Ministers of Education Organization (SEAMEO), a regional intergovernmental organization established in 1965 among governments of Southeast Asian countries to promote regional cooperation in education, science, and culture in the region.
Dr. Mary Ann B. Martelino, Vice President for External Affairs and Linkages was the one who amiably delivered an opening remark to the attendees and guest speaker while Dr. Efren L. Linan, Vice President for Research, Development and Extension conveyed an uplifting message on behalf of Dr. Editha C. Alfon, SUC President III. Both of them hoped that the delegates would exemplary represent CAPSU in the global arena.
Different essential topics and reminders were presented and discussed to the pre-service teachers. Dr. Jereline D. De Pablo, Pontevedra campus EAL Chairperson, comprehensively discussed the SEA Teacher Guidelines and Guidelines for Blog Writing; Dr. Christa Hope G. Corros, Dayao satellite college EAL Chairperson, clearly discussed the COVID-19 Protocol, Health and Safety Protocols for Travelers as outlined by the World Health Organization (WHO); Dr. Marien Laureto, International and National Affairs Director, talked about on the Airport Step by Step Process; A Multi-Faith discussion was done by Prof. Joseph Febhos V. Magsipoc, the invited guest speaker; and Prof. Deony P. Dolor, Pilar satellite college EAL Chairperson, had his discussion on Personality Development for Teachers and How to use Canva.
A focus group discussion on the culture and norms of the aforementioned Asian countries was facilitated by Prof. Erlyn F. Lauron (Indonesia), Dr. Christine F. Quenga (Thailand), Prof. Edwin James B. Villaflor (Vietnam).

Dr. Susan O. Dangan, Vice President for Academic Affairs, expressed her sincere gratitude to the participants and guest speaker as she delivered her closing message to officially end the program.
This will be the third time; the first time was during the 7th batch of South East Asia (SEA) – Teacher Student Exchange Program of the SEAMEO, but the first time after the pandemic that CAPSU will send its qualified and globally competent students to have their teaching experience outside the country.
