Before the official deployment of graduating student teachers to various public secondary schools in Roxas City and the province of Capiz, the College of Education (COEd) at Capiz State University (CAPSU) Roxas City Main Campus organized its 3rd Pinning and Candle Lighting Ceremony for Pre-Service Teachers. The event took place at the Dadivas Gymnasium on January 14, 2025.

Dr. Hazel D. Joaquin, Dean of the COEd and Director for Curriculum Planning and Development (CPD), warmly welcomed the attendees. She expressed excitement for the pre-service teachers for the new journey that awaits them and thanked the parents for entrusting the education of their children to Capiz State University.

CAPSU President Dr. Efren L. Linan then delivered an inspirational message by sharing a parable about a curious student and a wise teacher.

“This parable reminds us that no act of a teacher is ever too big or too small. What you do for the welfare of your students will have a resounding impact on their lives, even through the passing of years,” Dr. Linan said, underscoring the story’s lesson and emphasizing the vital role of teachers.

Addressing the student teachers, “You have the power to inspire students, to believe in themselves, and to realize that nothing is impossible for those who strive hard. As you go out to teach, do so with purpose, compassion, and dedication. Above all, remember that your calling as teachers is a noble mission that shapes not just individuals, but the future of this nation,” he added as he closed his address.

Dr. Annalie G. Campos, Vice President for Academic Affairs and Dr. Salvacion J. Legaspi, Vice President for External Affairs and Linkages, also shared a message to the attendees.

Dr. Emmanuel D. Dayalo, Director for Publication, Instructional Materials (PIM), and Creative Works, introduced the guest speaker, Dr. Marvic S. Martirez, Chief Education Supervisor of the Department of Education (DepEd) Roxas City Division. Dr. Martirez shared her extensive knowledge and inspired the pre-service teachers as they prepared to embark on their journey into the real world of teaching.

A certificate of recognition was awarded to the distinguished guest speaker. The program then proceeded to the pinning proper of the CAPSU logo to the pre-service teachers together with their parents.

Prof. Vicmar B. Solano, Student Teaching Coordinator for the Bachelor of Secondary Education (BSEd) English program, guided the pre-service teachers on the dos and don’ts as they undertake their duties in their respective schools.

Ms. Joane Miles A. Veedor, a student teacher from the Bachelor of Physical Education (BPEd) program, led the recitation of the Pledge of Student Interns.

Dr. Mary Ann D. Cervas, Program Chair of the Bachelor of Technology and Livelihood Education (BTLEd) program, formally concluded the event.

“As you step into your roles as educators, remember that you have the power to inspire, to ignite curiosity, and to foster a love for learning. Embrace the challenges and triumphs that lie ahead, and always strive to be the guiding light for your students,” Dr. Cervas said as she formally closed the program.

The event concluded with everyone singing the CAPSU March in unison.
