Two faculty members from the College of Agriculture and Fisheries (COAF) of Capiz State University (CAPSU) Pontevedra Campus have been awarded the prestigious University Consortium Faculty Mobility Program for Leveling-Up Philippine Higher Education Institutions in Agriculture, Fisheries, and Natural Resources (LevelUPHEI AFAR), a project initiated by the Southeast Asian Regional Center for Graduate Study and Research in Agriculture (SEARCA) and funded by the Philippine Commission on Higher Education (CHED).
One of the recipients of this remarkable achievement is Dr. Emely J. Escala, the Director of the Livestock Research and Development Center and Program Chair of the Agriculture Department. Dr. Escala is currently conducting an extensive three-month research project at the renowned Institute of Pertanian Bogor (IPB) University in Indonesia.
Another distinguished faculty member, Prof. Gelene Roda I. Alvarez, Program Chair of the Fisheries Department, has been granted a one-semester mobility program at Kasetsart University in Bangkok, Thailand. Prof. Alvarez’s tenure in this program will span from June 11 to November 30, 2023.
This faculty mobility program represents a significant milestone in the professional development of the two faculty members. It will equip them with the necessary tools and global exposure to excel in their respective fields. By investing in quality education and service, the program aims to empower them to become globally competitive professionals. This opportunity will not only benefit the participating faculty members but also contribute to the overall growth and excellence of this University.
