In connection with 2021 National Disaster Resilience Month (NDRM) celebration, the Capiz State University and the Local Government Unit (LGU) of Ivisan, Capiz signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA), a technical partnership on DRRM and installation and operation of CapSU DRRM VHF Repeater System.
Rationale. The primary telecommunications system (telephone, cell phone and internet) are prone to calamities and disasters. In case of worst case scenario, radio transceiver system is the redundant system available and reliable for emergency communications.
In view of this, the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) Regional Office VI established the Western Visayas Higher Education Institutions Disaster Communicators League (WVHEIDCL). The objective is to enable every state colleges and universities in the region to organize a redundant communication group and system for disasters and emergencies.
The CAPSU VHF Repeater System was constructed and installed in the LGU-owned telecommunications tower at Brgy. Agustin Navarra, Ivisan, Capiz. The partnership is gearing towards the proactive preparedness in the emergency telecommunications cluster of CapSU DRRM and Ivisan MDRRMO.
