Among the Top 20 finalists from different Universities and Colleges, and after a rigorous screening process had taken place, Batang Capiznon Awards announced three Capsunians as Ten Outstanding Students of Capiz awardees at SM Mall Roxas City last June 20.

The three capsunians who secured their spots in the TOSOC 2022 are: Nomer Jhon Camacho taking Bachelor of Secondary Education Major in Science, and Joshua Distor taking Bachelor of Secondary Education Major in Filipino, both Editors-in-Chief of The Quest Publication; and Klenn Mark Mayo taking Bachelor of Physical Education, and President of CapSU Circle of PHEM and MAPEH.

Their journey for selection started on June 17-20 after the top 20 finalists were declared and in these days, the screening was conducted in a confined and tricky process as it sought the most deserving students to be recognized.

“It was a tough ride. I never expected that the 4-day nga pag-ulopdanay would let me go beyond my boundaries and prepare me for the reality of nation building,” Camacho stated.

Batang Capiznon Awards of the Borres Youth Leadership Institute (BYLI) is a yearly awarding ceremony to honor the Ten Outstanding Students of Capiz but due to the setbacks of COVID-19, the Secondary division continued its search via online while the Tertiary division was put on halt last year and only continued this year through face-to-face process.

“I was full of mixed emotions since this is my dream when I was still in high school. The preparation of all the documents and certificates was intense, yet I was grateful. Kag nag-dungan amon final demo and the deadline for TOSOC, so ang pressure ara gid. But the entire TOSOC journey was immensely amazing. It is not all about medals, trophies, and certificates, but it is all about inspiring others. The commitment to lead your community and the eagerness to help building the nation,” Mayo expressed.

“I am immensely grateful for this recognition. But beyond the trophy and medal, I am more than grateful to be part of the organization which I believe can help me achieve my aspirations and will in championing the development efforts of our nation,” Distor added.

In addition, the stated ceremony recognized two Capsunians from the Top 20 finalists namely: Angel Rose Bating of Bachelor of Physical Education and Jessie Beniales of Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering, the latter also received the “Best in Essay Writing” award.
