Capiz State University (CAPSU) bagged 2nd place in the government-funded creative research (Likha) category during the National Invention Contest and Exhibits (NICE) 2024, held at the Manila Ballroom, Marriott Hotel, Pasay City, July 16-18.

Dr. Efren L. Linan, Vice President for Research, Development and Extension together with Engr. Monalyn L. Oloroso, a faculty member at CAPSU Burias Campus, personally received the said award in behalf of CAPSU President Dr. Editha C. Alfon.

CAPSU’s award-winning entry, the “Fiber XMach,” a device for extracting coarse and fine fibers from pineapple leaves, was developed by Dr. Linan, Engr. Oloroso, and Engr. Julito A. Albaladejo, and funded by the Department of Science and Technology – Philippine Council for Industry, Energy and Emerging Technology Research and Development (DOST-PCIEETRD).

NICE is a bi-annual event organized by the Department of Science and Technology – Technology Application and Promotion Institute (DOST-TAPI), showcasing one of a kind innovations of Filipino inventors in the field of research and development.
