CAPSU President Dr. Editha C. Alfon along with Dr. Susan O. Dangan, Vice President for Academic Affairs, and Dr. Marien Laureto, Director for International and National Affairs under the Office of the Vice President for External Affairs and Linkages, went to Japan for an initial ocular visit to various partner agencies and industries at the Kagoshima and Satsuma Cho prefectures on June 24-28.
The said visit aimed to further strengthen the existing international partnership and bond between this University and the different affiliated agencies and industries in Japan.
Prior to their official ground visit, the delegation was welcomed and accommodated by Mr. Kazutaka Nakao, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Japan Hospitality Learning Center Association (JHLCA).
Throughout the five-day visit, numerous places were visited including the Minamihara Farm, known to be among the top manufacturer of high quality preserved flowers; a caregiving facility that provides health and care services to the handicapped; tomato farm that grows several varieties of tomatoes; rice and vegetable farm that uses state-of-the-art machineries and technologies in harvesting farm products, and many more.
Moreover, the delegation attended a meeting with the Satsuma Cho mayor where they were briefed on by the life and culture of the town and discussed about a possible friendship agreement between Satsuma Cho prefecture and Roxas City local government unit.
Likewise, a meeting was held between the school principal of the Satsuma Cho Central High School and CAPSU delegation where they discussed an attainable partnership in the field of education and agriculture.
Through this international mobility, CAPSU is hopeful that it would create better job opportunities for competent and qualified CAPSUnians. Indeed, this experience would greatly benefit not only the faculty members but also the students.
