The Capiz State University (CAPSU) kicked off this year’s Culture and the Arts Festival with the theme, “One CAPSU, One Capiz: Promoting Peace, Inclusivity, and Well-Being through Sports, Culture, and the Arts,” at CAPSU Burias Campus as the host campus, from December 3-5, 2024.
CAPSU key officials, competing participants, mentors, campus administrators and college satellite directors, cultural director and coordinators, and faculty members across from CAPSU’s three campuses and six satellite colleges paraded from CAPSU Mambusao Satellite College to the venue, prelude to the formal opening program of the said event.
Dr. Susan O Dangan, Vice President for Academic Affairs, conveyed a message where she urged the contestants to uphold the CAPSU values and possess the right attitude all throughout the event as they showcase their talents and skills.
CAPSU President Dr. Efren L. Linan expressed his excitement and also delivered an inspiring message.
“This festival is not just an event, it is a powerful celebration of our creativity, resilience, and the niche diversity that defines our community. He added, “In a world where difference can sometimes divide us, the art and culture emerge as a unifying force. They empower us to express our unique stories, challenge perspectives, and honor the beauty of our differences,” Dr. Linan said, highlighting the purpose of holding the event.
“As we work together towards excellence in culture and arts, we reverberate our goal as we say — RISE CAPSU, RISE CAPIZ — we always reverberate and shout maskin sa regional kag sa national that CAPSU will rise, Capiz will rise.” He added, “Salamat sa tanan. Sa inyo nga kooperasyon, sa inyo nga partisipasyon, kag sa inyo nga support,” Dr. Linan said, expressing his profound gratitude to everyone who made the event possible.
Also in his address, Dr. Linan revealed that CAPSU will be sending 380 delegates to compete in the upcoming Regional State Colleges and Universities Athletic Association (RSCUAA), having the highest number of participants compared to other state universities and colleges in the region.
Dr. Linan then officially declared the University’s Culture and the Arts Festival 2024 open, setting the stage with a variety of competitions for CAPSUnians to compete and win.
