Re-awakening and re-imagining!

“Hope is rekindled. We adapt to the situation and become agile and resilient. Today, we are celebrating our victory as we regain our control and power for sustainable development”, said Dr. Ian Arcega, Dean of the College of Management (CM) in his opening remarks during the Opening Ceremony of Invictus 2023: College of Management Week, March 29.

With this year’s theme, “Regaining Control and Power for Sustainable Development,” students from the College of Management’s four organizations proved there is power in unity as each group cheered proudly as they were called.

“The 4-day event of College Week will highlight the capability, talents, and values of every CM student as we partner with various agencies towards inclusivity. We join together to be unconquerable individuals to achieve our common goals. The passion and the drive to make a difference are alive,” said Dr. Arcega as he encouraged students to continue striving, and in the process grow and rise.

Dr. Eimee D. Potato, SAS Chairperson, rendered her inspirational message for the CM students. “You CM students are undefeated. Despite the pain and hardships you have experienced, and will be experiencing as students, you have to keep going. Never lose hope no matter what the circumstances are. You have the power to control your fate and decide your future. As you maneuver through these challenging times, always keep in mind, to confront adversity and to come out the other side of it with the creation of positive change”. The SAS Chairperson also reminded the students to have fun while learning throughout the duration of the event.

Dr. Ma. Dorothee J. Villarruz, Campus Administrator of CAPSU Roxas City, Main Campus also warmly welcomed everyone to the four-day event. “It is with jubilation to be joining you here, personally, I am among you. I am your CM faculty; but on behalf of the Administration, I welcome you all and be assured the administration will always be there for everyone. It is with joy to be here—from the small beginnings of the college to what it has become, and future ls thinking of what it will become—a center of excellence, the center of governance, management, and administration.” Dr. Villarruz, said.

The opening ceremony heated up as candidates for Mr. & Ms. CM 2023 walked on the red carpet, and introduced themselves, the crowd cheering wildly in support of their respective organization’s representatives who will compete during the pageant to be held on Friday, March 31.

As part of the opening program, Ms. Charmaine Anne F. Manango, gave students valuable financial advice–tips and knowledge about the assessment of needs and wants, budget constraints, identifying bad debts and good debts, savings, and budget formula, and introduced Pru Life UK. Mr. Jeffrey Carpio discussed the UMWAD Western Visayas and encouraged students to design and implement feasibility studies to benefit their respective communities and for the welfare of society in general.

Toward the end of the program, CM students, faculty, staff, and guests joined the ribbon-cutting ceremony and opening of the booth exhibit prepared by the Junior Philippine Institute of Accountants (JPIA), Junior Association of Marketing Students (JAMS), Junior Public and Administration Society (JAMS), and Young Entrepreneurs Society (YES).

The program was hosted by Luis Gabriel Reyes and Angel Kyla Alejaga.
