CAPSU President Dr. Editha C. Alfon officially welcomed the freshmen and returning students at PAGSUGATA 2024, marking the start of the first semester of the academic year 2024-2025. The said program was organized by the Supreme Student Council (SSC) of Roxas City Main Campus, held at the Dadivas Gymnasium on August 5.

The ceremony began with a procession of CAPSU key officials, deans, program chairpersons, student leaders, and faculty and staff.

The CAPSU Main Chorale, under the baton of Dr. Vivian B. Apuang, sang the Philippine National Anthem, ASEAN hymn, “Pilipinas Kong Mahal,” Capiz hymn, and “Bagong Pilipinas” hymn.

SSC President Jerrold Dela Torre led the “Panunumpa sa Watawat ng Pilipinas,” while Dr. Jay Lord B. Asis, SSC Roxas City Main Campus Adviser, guided the recital of the “Panata sa Bagong Pilipinas.” Dr. Eimee D. Potato, Office of the Student Affairs (OSA) Chairperson, presented the University’s vision, mission, and goals, followed by Dr. Miraluna T. Sabid, Chairperson of Quality Assurance (QA) and Management Information System (MIS), who recited the CAPSU Quality Policy. Also, Ms. Myleen C. Abelarde, Supervising Administrative Officer (SAO) and Human Resource Management Officer (HRMO), led the “Panunumpa ng Kawani ng Gobyerno.”

Proceeding to the University President’s Address, Dr. Alfon highlighted the significant achievements of CAPSU under her leadership, emphasizing the University’s unwavering commitment to providing quality higher education.

“Our achievements as one family is a testament to the dedication, hard work, and collaboration of our entire University community. This success is not mine; this is ours to share. We owe this to our students, faculty members, staff, community partners, and key officials,” Dr. Alfon said. She expressed her gratitude to all members of the CAPSU family for their contributions, emphasizing that every effort, big or small, is valuable.

“Our initiatives and innovations have propelled CAPSU to greater heights. We have reaped the harvest of our hard work and have earned awards, recognitions, and citations in the regional, national, and international arenas. Agencies like the CHED, DOST, DTI, Civil Service Commission, AACCUP, NCCA, IPOPHL, DILG, and even different local government units, non-government organizations, and other institutions have recognized CAPSU’s contributions to various facets of society… For being an agent of change and sustainable development… For promoting a culture of research and innovation… For fostering entrepreneurship… For advancing disaster preparedness and resiliency… For being an advocate of indigenous and peace education…. And more importantly, for being a powerhouse in providing access to quality higher education… And for helping every Capisnon student make his or her dream to become productive citizen of the land.”

“As we welcome academic year 2024-2025, I extend my heartfelt gratitude to everyone for your unwavering support and commitment. And at the same time, I welcome you all to a new chapter in the annals of our university. Thank you, and may our university continue to thrive and inspire generations to come,” Dr. Alfon said as she closes her message.

Prior to the formal conclusion of the program, a video presentation was played on screen showcasing CAPSU’s accomplishments in the four-fold functions of the University: instruction, research, extension, and production.

The program culminated in a harmonious rendition of the CAPSU March.
